Title: TKO Awesome!!!
Post by: yamaharider on December 23, 2010, 05:31:40 PM
As most already know,  Mikes muzzle brakes are great!  Very, very quiet.  Nice quality,  looks great and works even better.  If you are considering one, just buy it you will not be disappointed.  Made my Katana (very similiar to the Discovery) backyard friendly,  now I can shoot it anytime and not having to wait.  Like Mike said to me, "you will think something is wrong with your rifle".  All I hear is the pellet hitting the target, now I have to make a quietier target! LOL

Welcome to the TKO club 8)  I've bought two from him, the first I stripped the threads over tightening the screws. (my fault)

So just a heads up be careful since the material is delfrin (sp?), but they are a pretty nice construction. I cut the first one up to look at the insides... :o

if you want a silent pellet trap make it urself today for $40 with parts from home depot, duct seal, and a circuit box. works like a charm

How do you like that Katana? I was looking at getting one but now they are dropped from
PA. It looked like a very nice piece.

Merry Christmas

Thanks CitySniper for the home depot idea.  I am an electrician and so am familiar with those items just never put "2n2" together.  I am a diy type guy.

I like the Katana.  Everyone has praised the Discovery and so I went with the Katana because it is very similiar,  just a little better trigger with was worth the extra cost (after price was dropped and 10% off) too me. Stock fits well.  I like a scope so no sights was fine with me.  With the TKO it is about perfect.  Accuratcy seems very good but not yet fully tested.  I have a Mrod and so am thinking of trying the Katana with co2 as a plinker.

That air venturi trap lists 18 ft. lbs. @ 10 meters max.  Putty! Need Mo' Putty! (ranking member in the "Joules for Fools" fan club).

As an aside, my brake was coated with AlumaHyde (black) that didn't cure or harden.  I could scrape it off with a fingernail.  I scraped it clean, and it had a polished aluminum tube beneath it, so left it like that.  Need to get some zinc chromate primer and a can of dull, tough black paint.

Just ask Mike if the AlumaHyde issue has been sorted.  It is an exceptional brake, and works as advertised.

Hey guys I just got a stage V muzzle brake for my 2300KT and it sure made quite a difference. Now it's "mouse fart" quiet.

Large juntion box (10"x8") with 8-10lbs of duct seal (1lb bricks) at Home Depot makes the best silent trap.  Mine is 3yrs old and has over a thousands .177 & .22 pellets in it.  I use it indoors mostly when I run my Springers over the Chrony and for 10m shooting, but have used it outdoors in the summer time as well.  I also have a Duct seal ball 7-8" in diameter that I use for my Condors when running them through the Chrony.  That one probably has 500-600 .22 and .25's in it.  They get heavier with all that lead in them, but I can still shoot another few hundred through it.

I use duct seal for safety more than the "noise factor".  You have no lead pieces or lead dust flying around with them, and they trap the pellets 100% with no richocets.

Here's a tip on attaching the brake to the barrel. Before you install it, remove the grub screws, drop a small piece of trimmer string into the hole and replace the grub screws and tighten down. This will avoid marring the barrel .Works for me wherever the screws meet metal.

Excellent idea turbo! My front sight/weight will go back-on when I sell the Disco, so any small marks on the barrel will be covered-up.
