Now some of you may call this bologna but, it is what it is.
I'll first start off with, I think going for max power on the .22 synrod was awesome. Now, I am starting to understand that your environment dictates your tune along with what your shooting. This was a hard pill to swallow.
So I have been reading this old post:
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=27855.0
and
Thinking how ratsniper (along with some others) is absolutely correct with fpe to kill. Accuracy is number 1.....
along with those Brits just shooting 12fpe guns.
With all that being said, I set out to run a tune at 12 to 15 fpe with a charge of 2000psi to see how many shots it can deliver.
140 shots
min 650
max 705
fill 2000
end fill 900psi
Now before you all say those are low numbers ( and 7%ES) for a 14.3 grain and 22 synrod, think about it for a minute. Run your chairgun or airgun trajectory and you will notice that it's a 15 fpe tune which is capable of a 30 yard kill ( head or body) on most or all our game we are targeting (squirrels/birds/rabbits).
I brought the power down for a couple reasons, just not because of the kill fpe's. Backyard shooting is fun. When I crank my gun up to 45 fpe, it's loud. When my 8 year old son wants to shoot, we dont want to re-charge every 60 shots at 30 fpe (we shoot alot). 2000 psi fill is way easier on the benji pump. The gun is almost silent at 15 fpe compared to 45 fpe ( all you hear is the action). Walmart sells the CHP's for less than 10 bucks and is around the corner.
So think about it guys when you get into the ( I want the most powerful airgun ) ego. You just might not need it. There's nothing like blowing 140 pellets on a single charge of 2000psi with an ES acceptable at or under a 30 yard range with pin point accuarcy.

That's fantastic. Perfect for backyard or ,this time of year, basement shooting.

That sound great.

Would be nice if you would post your tune settings.
Thanks

My tune settings won't mean too much to stock.
.5 HS
5 HT
VAS 6.5
This tune is from my DIY valve job and custom hammer spring. I guess you could get the same thing from Hill's valve and a 15 lb hammer spring cut down to just under 2 inches.

Thanks so much for posting this. It gives me some GOOD food for thought as I contemplate my next purchase which is either going to be an MROD (I really like the .25) or also considering a BT65 Elite (don't really have my head around the Hatsan yet i'm trying to gather intel on this gun).
Thanks again. It is what i'm looking for in a backyard plinker.

Nice job! Silent, accurate, deadly, and efficient. Those are great attributes in a backyard plinking and pesting gun.
It sure works well for my son's .177 QB79 HPA conversion.
Works great in .22 cal also as you have demonstrated. A few weeks back I was to go thin out the squirrels in a friend's back yard on a Saturday morning. The shots would be mostly 20 - 30 yards, so Friday evening after work I took a recently completed .22 QB78 HPA out into the back yard and dialed the RVA back to around 13fpe (about half power) with JSB Jumbo RS 13.4gr, their lightest .22 pellet. The next morning that rifle went 6 for 6, and was quiet enough that two pair of squirrels were taken back to back.
Enjoy your rifle, you earned it.

good morning shorty, Question: Are you happy with the accuracy of the CHP Walmart spesh for this application? Can you hold good groups at 30 yards with the gun as you have it configured?
Thanks.

My fenced in yard is approximately 20 yards one way and 25 yards the other way so I don't have paper targets past 25 yards unless I go in the back woods behind the house. Then I just shooting hard targets.
Anyway, While I was doing the shot string on 140 it got boring just shooting into the ground through the chrony so I was "hitting the nail on the head". I was pounding in nails on my fence.
Here's a a picture of 3 pellets stacked on top of a nail. And yes, I do get the occasional sprialing flyer.
