DIY Chrony Lights

I picked up a Chrony recently to get a better handle on what is happening with my guns.  Since the time that I have to play around with my toys typically comes in the evening or night, to use the Chrony, I was going to need a set of lights.

A quick check found that they were a bit pricey for a relatively simple set of two lights.  I thought that maybe I could do something a bit cheaper.

I noticed that Chrony even offered a set of LED lights - that triggered a thought.  I had seen ads for simple LED "stick up" lights, battery powered, hockey puck shaped lights that put out a pretty strong light using 3 or more LEDs.

A quick trip to the local hardware store and I had a set of 2, LED lights.  They each contained 3 LED's and were powered by 3 AAA batteries.  They were lightweight and pretty darn bright.  Total Damage with the batteries $6

All I needed was a way to attach them to the diffusers, positioned over the Chrony sensors.  I considered Velcro, but then thought that a clamp would be better.  Scrounging around turned up a pretty simple and cheap solution - spring clothespins.

I attached the clothespins to the lights with double stick tape.



I set up the Chrony, clipped the lights to the diffusers, turned out the flourescent lights in my play area. The lights put a pretty decent amount of light on the sensor slot.



Only one thing left to do - I took a shot across the Chrony. It WORKED! 



The data it gave me for the 3 guns I tested matched the readings that I get for the guns when using the Chrony outside, so this would seem to indicate that the lights have no adverse effect on the data turned out by the Chrony.

I found that the lights with the clamps attached will store in the folded chrony, so that makes it easy to keep the "kit" together.



I am really pleased to be able to use the Chrony inside without having to spend too many precious "Pellet Dollars" on the solution.

I NEVER BOUGHT THE CRONY LIGHT FOR THE SAME REASON THAN YOU.... BUT NOW
THANKS FOR THE TIP.... BECAUSE I CAN FIND THAT LIGHTS VERY EASY IN PUERTO RICO.

Thanks for the excellent tip. I'm heading to Lowe's after work. Only problem now is I can't hang my drawers out on the line, I used my clothes pins. 
Here's momma hanging them before.

That's a great idea.  I'm going to get a couple of those "Hockey puck" LED lights.

Btw....anybody remember how to put the whole chrony kit back into its original box.  I've tried this, that and every which way and I can't stuff everything back into the box.  I have the kit with the LED read-out that's apart from the main unit.
