Testing BAM -b40 Vortek tune

A few months ago I bought the BAM .177 b40, now I have read many good things about the Vortek tune kits, and so I also purchased the following; TX200-PG2 DIY Kit 15-17ft/lb Damping and Tune Also the12 ft / lb spring.
I installed the kit whit the 15-17ft/lb spring and the Bam is now shooting about 920 Fps whit H&n ftt
No twang, no vibration and almost no recoil and a very good shot cycle.
Today,  tested different pellets, but not the heavy ones (thats for tomorrow) range 25m(28 yards)
 Shooting 6 or 7 pellets each group.
 
H&N ftt 4,51 - H&N ftt 4,52 - JSB express 4,52 - JSB exact 4,52 and also hollowpoints and flat heads.
The hollowpoints and flat heads where grouping poorly.
The best are H&N ftt 4,51 and JSB exact 4,52

 Results   Group nr 1   0.2 inch c.t.c  H&N ftt 4,51
                          2   0.35
                          3   0.32
                          6   0.32 inch c.t.c JSB exact 4,52
                          7  0.35

For the moment I'm very pleased with these results, but I think if I install the12 ft / lb spring its must be possible to shoot always about 0.2 inch groups.

Pretty much the same set up as me but 100 fps better. What is you altitude and which scope is that? Oh and do I see checkering on that stock?

Mike, it is thanks to the topics on the B40 from you and SciGuy that bring me to the idea, tuning my b40 whit the Vortek kit.
The scope is a Centerpoint 4-16x40 for its price of 60 euro(82 dollar) very good.
 And yes ,that's checkering on the stock, i have also the Bmk 40 (.22)and this has checkering on the stock,and so I changed stocks because i do not like shooting .22 .
 I shoot at sea level.
 For me it is absolutely unnecessary shooting at 920 Fps, i do target shooting not hunting so about 800-820 Fps gonna be better for me, so i think i put the 12ft/lbs spring in the b40.
 My friend is shooting HW 97 K, i think there is a chance to beat him.

Nice looking gun and a heck of a shooter. They are not TX200 but with some attention they sure do come close. I am glad my posts could be of some help for you. Keep us updated with any changes.

Nice stock. If my B40 stock had looked that good from the mfr, I wouldn't have "bedlinered" it. I would have still removed the rollover comb, but it would have gotten a mahogany dye and tung oil finish. Mine had a couple of knots and sap pockets. It wasn't a candidate for a pretty finish.
But, it's tuned by MM and it's a good shooter. It's also ambidextrous now. That took some work to achieve. Lots of planing, rasping, filling, and sanding. It was worth it.

Hey Luc....thanks for the PM info on the vortec spring kit, I haven't ordered it yet but will in the very near future.....probably both 12 and 15 FPE versions.
 When I bought my B40 it shipped in with the safety mechanism completely jammed, I sent it back and when the replacement came in the stock had a section busted out right behind the receiver...I found another from a yellow forum member that was very nicely finished. I saved the original and glued the broken piece back in (fortunately it fit exactly back in place, you can't tell it was broken)  My thought was to sand it off and refinish it, I found a post where one guy had sanded his down and re sized the forearm, the grip area, and the cheek piece, then refinished it with a stain from Ace called "Jacobean", that brought out a black / gray pattern in the wood that really looked good....my next project!

OK, I just noticed the checkering.....did you do that?  I've never seen a B40 with any checkering....it looks just like a TX200 at first glance.......

No, I have not done that, but i have also the Bmk-40 ,.22(Bam40,.22).
BMK's are bam 's made for  the Polish distributor, and they all have checkering, but i do not like shooting .22 and so i changed the stocks.
