Finally B40 working correctly (tips)

So I have been working with Mike and Tom Gore to get my B40 to shoot at what I would consider acceptable performance at my altitude (7,000 FASL) Replaced every part except the piston from the beginning. Still only getting maybe 750 FPS but scattered accuracy. Bring down the power to mid 600s and get fantastic accuracy but the tree rats flip me the finger and run away.
Got some Vortek kits and the first worked great for about a month then lost power, Tom replaced the spring but asked if I wanted to test a beta kit, I agreed. Nice kit with a short spring extra spacers and washers and an all metal tophat/spring guide I suggested to Tom to close his spring ends and finish them like JM or factory but he didn't reply. Replaced my seals and tried this puppy out. 750 at first then Tom suggested use the B40 Tophat as they would fit. I tried that and got 815 so I guessed the weight and put the Vortek guides in with the plastic guide on top and metal on bottom with approximate weight in washers from both kits and got 830. Looking good I thought but noticed the piston stem was loose and wiggled profusely and I was able to blow air through it with my mouth (moly tastes awful). Mike suggested I get it welded or buy a new piston.
While deciding this I noticed the gun dropped power again. So I opened it back up to find the spring broken. So I took that replacement spring closed up the last 2 coils polished the ends up flat made a scale with a hanger and wires and weighed the B40 Tophat against the Beta HA 280 kits tophat. Added weights until they matched added a couple spacers to the bottom guide and slapped it together. First 3 shots were over 870, then it dropped to 856 and evened out to 835 but had this odd clink noise when I shot it. I got it zeroed in in just a few shots and it was very accurate again. I decided to get the piston welded. After that I put a little Heavy tar on the kit when I put it back and now it is shooting at 815 to 830 with no clink and dead on accurate. I will send Tom a few pics of the combined modified HA280/TXP200e2 250c kit.
May not seem like much to some but living at my altitude cuts about 200 FPS off the top end of a 900/1000 FPS gun. So this gun will now need to be tested at a lower altitude or Tom will need to duplicate the spring and weights in shop to test for power. We may be looking at a medium power B40 shooting at mag fps at sea level. I wonder what this kit would do with .22 cal pellets?

Nice to see things are looking up and glad you got the piston welded (I hope mine won't end up needing that done, but it seems to be a common failure). 815 at your altitude is smokin' hot
Looks like we are going to end up with our guns shooting about the same. Tomorrow is my major tune day and really hope to end up right at 11-11.5 FPE.

My buddy has a AA ProSport that I shoot and it is doing 905. It makes me sick! I shot it over his chrony and got 15 shots 903 to 905 no less no more. And he asked if I wanted to work on it. I told him no way, but I would like to look at the insides.

Man I love shooting this even more now. Got off work. Set out the gun, gave the pups the "I'm home snack" grabbed the JSB 8.4 pellets and a brew. Loaded up, took one shot at the 35 yard 6mm bull and got half on half off, second shot tore out the dot. Shot 20 more at various targets around the yard and the POI never changed. Will do more chrony checks as the weekend goes on and hope it holds out.
