Just my luck... Hatsan 95 .177 has taken a turn for the worse.

I knew this was too good to be true. I've had it for 3 days, and the first 2 days and half of the third day the gun was performing great. Then today I was testing accuracy at 18 yards with all my .177 pellets. I was getting less than 3/4" groups with them all. Then I got to the RWS superdomes. It put 3 pellets touching, then all of a sudden the next 5 shots were all over the paper. I thought maybe it just doesn't like RWS Superdomes, so i switched to JSB 8.4 which I knew it shot great in the past, getting 1/2" or less groups. It shot erratically with the JSB too getting 1.5". I thought to myself, wow, Devin was right. These Hatsan's have horrible quality control on the internals.

So i go inside to try to remedy the problem. I tighten all the screws on my scope, then I go to the stock screws. I attempt to tighten it, and guess what? The darn screw literally broke off the shaft...

I am no longer impressed by this Hatsan. It shot great for the first few hundred shots, then Murphy's Law kicked in. I'm sure this is an easy fix, nothing a lube tune can't fix, but I DON'T WANT THAT. It should shoot great out of the box. Plus the screw is broken, and I have no idea how I could fix that.

I'm tired of springers and break barrels. At this point I'm either going to forget about airguns or just get a Disco .22 and be done with it. This is my second break barrel in a month that has pooped on me. First was the Titan LV, now this. I will be contacting Scott and asking for a full refund on both. I no longer want either.

Sorry to hear about that. I love my Titan full power. Those Hatsans seem to be just like my WFH. I have had no real problems with the WFH but it isn't nearly as refined as my Titan. I have no intentions of buying a Hatsan. Talk to Scott about getting a Disco combo. I got one from him about a month ago and it is a real good shooter.

I think it was Tim at Mac1 who said a springer is either breaking or is broken.  Thats true of just about anything mechanical of course.  Aside from the different skill sets and power levels this is the reason I like to have several air rifles.  If one breaks I can set it aside and it doesn't aggravate me till I can get around to fixing it.  FWIW I can say I have been there too and it took me a long time to buy another springer after buying a brand new made in NY Crosman legacy springer.  What a $)((# that was out of the box, still have it and hand it to folk when I want to demonstrate what you dont want in an air rifle.

Sad story, don't know what to say... Sayings like "luck of the draw" and "happens to the best of us" don't really mean much at a time like this...

One of my air rifles went like this while it was new and it was a faulty seal (no brands mentioned), which was replaced along with the spring and it has performed pretty well flawlessly since then...

Thanks guys... spent around $250 on the Titan and Hatsan in the past month. I really would like a refund on both and forget about this mess.

Well the Discovery was a delight, its lighter than a QB and has no hold requirements whatsoever.  It may be just what you need right now and its always good to have a rifle you can pick up and it just performs.  Helps keep you sane when the groups an another rifle go wild.  I have several PCP's and a 850 airmagnum that are just point and shoot, you need that sometimes.

Are there any USA made springers being made? A shame really,since my Crosman M1 carbine BB rifle,while not a big time springer,still shoots great to this day,after I recieved it for Christmas in 1965!

I've been saying this about the Hatsans, and no offense, got a lot of defensive justifcation of Hatsan in reply.

 I would have probably approached Hatsan much the same as I do the well known Chinese offerings, except Hatsan has been marketed  being precisely as "affordable quality". So far, in their US personna, they are not. In fact, their US appearance is falling short of even that of the Chinese models when it comes to their springers.

 I feel for ya, really do. I'm looking at a tear down and rebuild before I ever get to shoot my 125, with several upgrades, if and when it gets replaced.

So far, it seems there is some sort of wall that prevents most manufacturers from simply making an affordable yet quality springer available in the US.

I find it VERY interesting though, that when you get past the $300.00 mark, all of a sudden, the quality issues seem to almost vaporize. Just like with some other manufacturers. Looking at the PCP reviews here, Hatsan is looking stellar.

To me, this says Hatsan is not serious about their springer line, like many others, and has relegated them to third class status in favor of putting their resources behind high dollar models. Of course, the backlash for poorly manufactured $300.00+ models would be just a bit worse as well.

I see an untapped market. One that a serious manufacturer could exploit to spectacular success if they had the ahem, "b$!!s to do so. It seems Hatsan, doesn't have em.

If only I had the capital

I'm going to stick with this gun, the 125,as it really shoots hard in .25 cal.  If something fails,I'll just use my toolmaking skills,to make a better part. I come form a long hot rodding background,building engines,drivetrain setup,and most times you have to modify/machine most of the so called "bolt-ons".
Just another fun project/hobby!

anyways cant go wrong with the disco.  I would give away all my others buy the disco leaves the house.  just a straight up so messing around killing machine. no fancy holds, just point and fire.

Sorry about your gun however if it's anything I have learned since buying airguns they are all more problematic than powder burners, no matter the initial cost. To be a happy airgunner you need to also be a airgun mechanic. I have bought and owned airguns from just about all the major players and three, soon to be four custom builders.
   I have had issues with most, from stocks and finish problems to major issues like you had that put the gun out of service. I'm talking about guns from high end makers, Daystate, FX, AA, Steyer and HW. Most of the fixes were easily fixed for a few dollars and just a little time. Some broke after just a few shots, some lasted longer, and some were received in that condition.
   Spring guns absorb a lot of force when they are shot, the more powerful they are the more abuse they take. They do break, but are very easily fixed for just about anything that can go wrong.  Buy enough pre-charged rifles and you will get one that leaks, simple to fix but a pain in the but to figure out unless your lucky and the pressure gauge is bad or the check valve is leaking. Hand pumps wear out quickly if used a lot and require re-builds so unless you have a 4500psi carbon fiber tank be prepared for those issues. Then with a pre-charge your tied to that tank, and to having it filled. I like precharged rifles but I hate the tank you cannot ever forget about, you can have a 1000 pellets in your pocket but you have to have a full tank of compressed air to shoot them all.
  Use this as a positive, and learn what makes a spring gun work, tear it down, make new guides, buy a better spring, and when you get the rifle back together and it is shooting so sweet and accurate you'll be glad you didn't give up on it.
  For me spring guns have been the most dependable airguns I have owned over the years.
 What we are seeing from Hatsan is what you see from any company that has products that virtually overnight turned into hot potatoes. Hatsan is trying to keep up with demand, and quality is suffering because of it. Hopefully they will get it right, slow down production and get things back on track. Because if not they will find thereselves with a warehouse full of airguns wondering what the heck happened.

Sorry to hear that.not worthy when a new gun breaks.Happens to often with airguns,just should'nt be like that when its brand new.I have the 125 Sniper, only have 80-100 shots through it and keeping my fingers crossed.

No, haven't cleaned it. i'm hoping the scope is broken, but the broken screw still pisses me off.

Sorry to hear of your problem. My 95 had the screw holding the scope stop fracture after a few shots. I never, ever shoot any new gun without cleaning the bore first.

I'd ask for a different brand, not just a replacement. I have this brand new never shot 95 apart as we speak...and it's pretty bad. These things really need to be torn down before firing.
