gamo barrel

got a question.....why does gamo not rifle the last inch of their barrels? im sure it probably has to do with preasure release.... just wondering

Gamo mystery but I've only had to cut/recrown one of their barrels due to this. Ed

I thought I noticed the same thing at the end of my Big Cat barrel (that the end wasn't rifled). I doubt they do it for pressure relief as it's not a powder burner. Might just be a result of their particular mfg process.

Now cannon artillery tubes have the last portion of the tube "unrifled"  called the "Counterbore"

(g) The counterbore is the portion at the front of the bore from which the lands have been removed to relieve stress and prevents the tube from cracking.
