Here is a stupid question.  What's gang tagging?

Is pretty much the gangs scope out the parking lots putting some kind tagging mark on the car that isn't easly noticed. Then they are followed and the first chance the little sob's get they break into the car to steal the guns...

If I found my car marked like that, id take my gun and set a little trap for them..

Well when any of us go to a gun show, make sure to do a very good close inspection of ur car after parking and then again before leaving the gun show.. if you do find some some weird mark or sticker id say call the cops and inform them because maybe they could follow you and use ur car as bait. Catch the people as they break into ur car at ur next stop..

Scary thing is, if ur car is marked and followed but you live in the same city as the gun show. The perps could follow you home..

This sure sounds like the "Don't flash your headlights at a car with no lights" gang stuff.  (That one is an urban legend, BTW.  I talked with the police officer who was tracking it down across country so he could bust the source.)  Even if they somehow tagged you car, wouldn't they have to wait and watch you drive away?  And, if they posted lookouts at the exits to tip off the tails, how would they know you bought anything?  I mean, what purpose would the tag serve when they could just sit and watch the lot, then phone the tail?  Me, I would NOT want to pull over anyone who was coming home from a gun show.

I'm very doubtful about this one, too, and the headlilght urban legend was the first thing to come to mind when I read this, too.
However, if they wanted to pick off the right people to tail, they could station watchers in the lot to tip off the the tails when they see people getting into marked cars with anything clearly gun related.
Not that I really believe this one anyway.

Well if you live in Texas, like me, then you could just shoot those sobs when they try to break in your car. In Texas, your vehicle and your place of work are an extension of your "castle", I.e, your home. Thank the Lord for the Castle Doctrine! :)

No, its not BS. I work at camp pendleton recreational shooting range as an RSO. Some of the old timers "retired regulars" have told me storys about their stuff getting ripped off while they are at state shoots and national shoot copetiton with their shotguns that cost upwards of 30,000! Thats right, some of the kolar and perazzi shotguns can cost 80k or more!! Most of our regulars that compete in out of state shoots dive large SUV's or vans that have good tight bolted down gun safes inside of the car. I would do whatever it takes to protect my investments from dirtbag gang theives. What would they even do with a 50k dollar skeet gun? They wouldnt even know how to use the barrel selectors or change the chokes. More then likely, an idiot gang banger would try to shoot a slug through a full choke or extra full choked handicap trap gun and turn themselves into hamburger meat with it. That makes me angry to hear it happening again. Another reason to secure out borders. Its a dang shame...

I don't doubt that people steal guns out of cars, even high end trap guns, but the whole thing about tagging turns out to be BS.
When you really think about it, it's not very practical anyway.

I knew one such top of the line shooter who was ripped off.  He used to be the Trap and Skeet coach for a local college.  Was gassing up his car (a hatchback, IIRC) at a station just off campus.  Someone at the next pump noticed his gun case in the back and got to asking about it.  He shows off his Perazzi which he had won - very expensive trap gun, as said.  They finished pumping and said goodbye, he going to his campus job.  Came out later that day to find the rear glass broken out and the gun gone.  Never did get it back.  One reason I keep it out of sight.

(While a great coach and internationally ranked shooter, this fellow was none too careful with that Perazzi.  He once forgot the gun after a club shoot.  Remembered it the next morning and hot footed it back, sweating bullets the whole way.  It was right where he had left it - in the rack out on the range, wet with the morning dew.)

What's with all the shoot 'em ups?  I doubt you can shoot someone for breaking into your car if you are not in the car.  (Kind of read that one both ways.)  And now we've got stupid cops?  Where the heck is this thing going?

In Texas, and other states with the Castle Doctrine, you can shoot a thief breaking into your car, but you must be walking to or from your place of work or your house, or be in the car when it's happening. It is a felony in Texas to carry a concealed handgun with out a CHL.

If you have a CHL, then you could shoot to kill the thief no matter where you are.

Those look like signs that unemployed and homeless people used in the great depression in major cities. They meant like, jobs available, soup kitchens, unfriendly people, etc.
