The chineese are great at copying but not so great on inventing new stuff like the sas system. Hatsan rocks big time.

I believe that most of the BAM and Xisico deigns are direct copies of European rifles. But they also have at least one or two original designs. All of the higher end Shanghai Air Gun piston guns appear to be original designs as well as some of their other rifles. The Chinese companies seem to have no qualms about making direct copies of other designs, but they are capable of good designs of their own if they want to.

I'll reserve judgement on the SAS system. Otherwise, I like the Hatsan designs.

Is the honeymoon over? Prices for Chinese products are increasing, but so is the quality.

I doubt AA or HW will adjust pricing because of a Chinese made US branded knock off.  Their companies and Crosman aim at two different populations of customers.

The Chinese lower quality lower price is strictly the Chinese domain for now

I don't know about that.  I have a QB-6 ($60) a BAM XS-B21 (.. uh $120 ish?) but I also have a .22 marauder, and a new Sam Yang Recluse.

I am looking for interesting things in the airgun hobby, and I guess that I find some of the chinese stuff to really scratch an itch if you will.  For example, I have some strange attraction to side levers, I also prefer .22 cal.  @SS%^$# has the QB-58 in .22 (he was out for ages, now they are back and of course I just spent a mint on the Recluse).

I don't disagree completely, I am just saying there are people (myself) who have spent collectively $1000+ on airguns, but still will buy a chinese airgun - not because its cheap, but because ... its fun and it doesnt exist anywhere else.

If you know of a .22 cal side lever mid power sporter besides the qb-58 let me know ;)
Sam Yang Recluse .357
Benjamin Marauder .22
BAM XS-B21 .22
QB-6 .22
Daisy 22SG
Umarex Steel Storm
Crossman 1377C .177
