I contacted Cometa USA concening a rifle after getting no response from a couple of vendors. After Mr. Manou said they had the rifle I wanted, I asked about holiday sales. This is the ultimate response I got. Just wanted to share with my airgunning friends.

Cometa-USA and 2012

Cometa airguns will be distributed by a new USA agent that will be announced at the 2012 SHOT Show. Why a new distributor? Part of this decision was because we lost our dad this year and wanted to devote what little free time we had with our kids and family. The other reason was that Cometa of Spain wanted to boost the annual sales volume in the USA. With our small team we could never provide the sales numbers that Cometa wanted. As some of you are aware, we manufacture and distribute bicycle components. We will only continue the bicycle operations after January 1, 2012.

To closeout our remaining inventory, we will be offering all our rifles at $160 shipped. These are BRAND NEW and UNFIRED. We only have 20-25 in the warehouse. Therefore when they are gone, they're gone. No rain checks! No returns!

What do we have:

1. Fenixes (.177, .22 and .25 caliber) in WALNUT or STAR stocks. $160, shipped.

2. Carbines (.177, .22 and .25 caliber) in WALNUT or STAR stocks. $160, shipped.

3. Fusions (.177 and .22 caliber) in STANDARD stocks. $160, shipped.

4. One Cometa Indian. $125, shipped.

5. Hawke Sport Scopes (Illuminated reticle, mildot, AO 3-9x 50mm or 4-12x 50mm. $60, shipped

NOTE: WE ONLY HAVE A FEW OF EACH. ONLY 20-25 TOTAL RIFLES.

We want to thank all our customers and especially our small group of retailers. The ones we worked with are still providing that old-school, brick and mortar feel that online vendors cannot provide. Wow. 60 bones for a hawke scope? If they are AO scopes, even front bell AO, id buy one or two.

I tried to order one earlier this year but couldn't seem to get my hands on one.

So now I can spread the ag addiction along with some christmas cheer

I have been completely unable to purchase any of these close-outs. I received one general response, but can't figure out what's still available and how to pay for it. I have sent regular emails, contact us forms on their site, and left voice mails. I have never had so much trouble giving money away, but I wish you luck in your endeavor.

Richard from Airscopes has had the same issues Dave. The Manou Bros. have really dropped the ball for Cometa.

I also have encountered the same issue. Tried emailing james and calling and leaving messages also. No reply... Ohh well. Im sure they are busy doin the family thing for the holidays. I will try again after the new year.

The Manou Brothers communicated with me 2-3 times by email, received my funds and acknowledged and I just got the UPS notification of shipment for a 12/29 delivery of the Cometa 400 premier walnut 25 cal.

I'll let you know how she is when received.....thank you to James Manou.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received my order from James. I'm on the east coast so it took a little longer. I have to say my Cometa 400 Compact is a very nice rifle. I feel that I got a super deal. They have a few rifles and scopes left. Here is a segment of an e-mail I got from James today:

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, we agree that they are an excellent deal and, unfortunately for us, not too many people know of Cometa.

Of the Hawke scopes, I have several of the 3-9x50mm scopes available.
In regards to rifles, we only have 4 left. These are from customers who haven't sent payment and are now available for others. We have 3 Fenixes in .22 caliber and 1 Fenix in .177 caliber.

Remember the custom stocks we had made for our Las Vegas SHOT Show? Custom sporting stocks made for the Cometa rifles by a well-known stock maker who shall not be named? We have two of those available for sale - one in walnut and one in maple. Please let the posters on the GTA Forum know. They are for sale at $400 each. Yes, they are expensive, but we paid $750 each for them.

I received my order from James on 1/10 payment was sent on 12/30. I ordered two scopes and a Fusion .22. I just placed another order for a Fenix .177.

I dont know whats up, iv emailed this dude a handfull of times about scopes and rifles. I have not got a reply back from him and i have been sending emails since mid december. Ohh well. Im very happy with my mrod, i guess a cometa springer wasnt ment to be. You guys that placed orders, did you just send him cash and wait for a reply or what? Im kinda sketched out to do it like that, especially if this dude wont return an email.

I wouldn't send a Money Order without making contact. It's possible he has sold everything, but is waiting for payment. Some folks never send payment, so he might not respond yes or no to you and others, until he knows for certain. Also, since it's a clearance, I'd bet he's filling larger orders first, to clear out as much as he can, in as few shipments as he can. All just a guess of course.
