Bran-New Career II 707 9 mm drops out of Santa’s Slay!

And lands in my living room.
Yes, really, a Bran-New Career 707!
Story first:
After getting the Big Bore bug I started doing research to discover what is available. I quickly discovered there are not very many choices to be had. Along with my research I discovered most of the Big Bore rifles need to be filled to 3400 PSI or more. I, not willing to invest in another high pressure tank concluded their was only one choice for me and that was the Korean rifles. The Korean rifles only require a maximum fill pressure of 3000 PSI and I already have a scuba tank for my Condor and Maunder so I focused my research on the Korean choices.
One of the reasons for wanting a Big Bore is to do some Hog Hunting here in Upstate New York. The state laws only allow Air Gun hunting for small game and you need a small game license to hunt Hog here. Loop Hole found!
I also want to target shoot with my new toy so I went at the information with a dual purpose rifle in mind. 9 MM seemed to be the obvious choice which left me with one choice but I did read several accounts of the Career 707 Ultra. Knowing they are no longer available I was about to pull the trigger this week on a new rifle but like a light bulb lighting up I remembered seeing one at a show this summer. I rifled through my business cards and found the dealer and called him. At first he thought he did not have anything but would take a look and let me know. Sure enough one was to be had, his last one. (serial number 100) We agreed on a price and I drove 4 hours round trip today to pick it up.
A drop dead gorgeous rifle in my opinion.
Unfortunately I will not be able to sight her in till next weekend weather permitting. That will give me a chance to clean the barrel and shine this stunning rifle up. Several tins of pellets were included with the deal and I may be able to find some .360 balls to shoot.
Considering the season the only other thing I can say is:
“Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause”
Ta Ta for now.

Recluse:
Thank you.
I never dreamed I would find a new one. Stuff like that never happens to me. Scanning the classifieds was the plan after purchasing a Recluse. You know how that goes, .05 seconds late with the response or do not have the funds at the time.
I am looking forward to finding the best pellet or cast bullet for it. I know if I put in the trigger time I will be rewarded with accuracy.
Thank you for the reply.
Ta Ta for now.

Melloroadman:
As stated in the original post I plan to give her a go this coming weekend and I will post something.
Looking at the manufacturers site it looks like they only offer the rifle in smaller calibers now. It may be someone has purchased the rights but I am under the impression 9 MM has not been made for a while.
Thank you for the reply.

Nice. Now you just need to get a QD fitting from BGMF airguns. Makes filling a lot easier than with a probe.

Wow, Thanks all for responding:
Manny: If I ever sell my Ultra you can have first crack at it as I know you are looking for another one.
Uncle Paulie: I would not say especially good but really lucky.
Jaymo: Thanks for the advice, I will replace the fill fitting if it gives me problems.
Kamora187: Thank you. I think I remember you looking for one. Am I right and if so did you find one?
Spysir: I enjoyed myself at the show and it was my first one. The rifle I got was never at a show because it was put away thinking it was one thing and the dealer discovered it was the Ultra I got so the stars were shining on me this week. It truly is new as it was filled for the first time on Saturday morning and the dealer felt safe selling it as it had no leaks and worked properly. If you attend this coming year I will see you their as I have another new friend from NJ that wants to team up on the competitions with me.
I managed to place an order with Track of the Wolf tonight for some .360 round balls. I doubt they will be here by Sunday which will be my only day to shoot. My local Gun Shop was closed today but I will try him tomorrow.
I tried to order from Matt’s Bullets tonight but the site is shut down so they can catch up on backorders so I will have to wait till then or search for another source for Manny’s recommended Wadcutters. The worst case scenario is I will try the pellets I have on Sunday.
I will let everyone know how things are going.
Till the next time.

Manny,
The "SODA CAN" shim goes UNDER the bolt probe usually. The bolt probes on those guns do not ride true into the breech and that is what causes the oring to be shaved until it splits and you have to replace it. Also, use the harder WHITE orings and clean up/polish the lead in. Mine would shear and break in 100 shots until i had TIM at MAC-1 fix it. Another trick is to blue locktite the barrel threaded adapter when its "backed off" 1/8 of a turn from fully tightened. In other words, remove the thread adapter, put a drop of blue locktite on the threads the screw the adapter all the way tight then back off just a bit. Supposed to help with accuracy because of the type of barrel band that's on that gun, it relieves pressure on the barrel when the air tubes are filled.

I am ready for the to try the rifle this weekend.
I cleaned the barrel and cleaned the packing grease off of the outside. The wood had some kind of wax on it and at first gave me some trouble to remove but a little rubbing alcohol took care of that followed by a wipe down of Linseed oil. Now she really shines. I also silicone greased the seals on the fill connector on the front of the rifle as well as the seals on the fill probe. The last detail will be to top my scuba tank off on Friday at lunch time. The local range will be available and the range master really wants to see what a 9 mm Air Rifle looks like.
The tracking for my .360 round balls indicates they will arrive tomorrow so I will have the pellets and the round balls to shoot.
Since Matt’s Bullets is not taking orders yet I furiously searched the internet for some cast bullets. The only one I found that fit Manny’s specifications is the one pictured below. They are .358 diameter and 100 Grain, 92% lead, 6% antinomy and 2% tin. I called a friend of mine that I just recently found out was into guns informed me I could remove the lubricant by dipping the bullets in boiling water or use a paint thinner. I was willing to take the chance they would not work as I can always resell them if they do not. On the other hand if they do and are accurate than 707 Ultra owners will be the winners!
Hopefully I will not have any issues with the rifle this weekend.
Till the next time.
Paul
