Final rifle decision??????
« on: November 26, 2011, 02:04:43 PM »
OK so I am in the market for a all around good quality air rifle. It will mostly be used for squirrel and bird hunting. I have narrowed it down to two options: the Benjamin trail np or the Stoeger x20 (non suppressed). Both would be .22 cal and both will have the GRT 3 trigger installed. They both seem of good quality, I have heared positive and negative reviews for both. In the long run wich of these two rifles do y'all think will give better results over time. Thaaanks  ;D ;D ;D

:DGees i have the stoeger x20  installed the grt 111 trigger, sanded the stock and finished in  mini wax golden pecan oil finish with sparurathane high gloss  awesome rifle love it!!
i did not  care for the Benjamin trail.. it was cool at first but i grew quickly tired of the inconsistency  had it and returned it to many bugs  to iron out
a good tuned spring  is better in my opion then the nitro piston
except maybe the higher nitro piston rifle  may be  good like the talon  even  then  i love springer rifles :D

Congrats.  You will love everything about the disco.  Carbine size and light with no recoil and a tack driver.  What's not to like?  Good choice.  I haven't picked up a springer since I got the disco.  Lots of parts to mod as well.  Enjoy your new baby.

Ahhhh... Luis, how can you say that..???

I've had a few PCP's and unfortunately because of a law change here, I had to sell them (PCP rifles now classified as firearms and need licensing). Nice and powerful, stylish looking, nice to fire etc etc, but they are just another airgun and although I miss them, it's business as usual for me. The only PCP I have now is a Crosman/Benjamin Marauder pistol (P-rod) and it's fun,, but tomorrow I'm heading into town to pick up yet another springer,, an AR-2000 Jet (Techforce Jet in the US). I also have about,, oh dear, I've lost count of the other springers. Let's see...

BSA Meteor Mk4 .177,, BSA Meteor Mk4 .177,, BSA Meteor Mk6 .177,, BSA Lightning XL .177,, Gamo Shadow 1000 .22,, Cometa Fenix .177,, Cometa Fusion .177,, Webley Dominator .177,, Webley Patriot (Turkish) .25,, Webley Patriot (English) .25,, Indsutry Brand AR-1000 Magnum .177,, Zoraki HP-01 .177 pistol,, Crosman/Benjamin Marauder .22 pistol... You know, I just can't remember them all. I know I have more than those but I just cannot remember them all.

No, it's not a change to show off,, just to show that I will always love the pure airgun, the spring operated one, at heart. I loved the PCP's but I wont dwell on them, as they are gone but life goes on. They need hoses and pumps or dive bottles with Yoke or DIN fittings. Oh boy, you need to really think your budget over when you decide to go PCP... Having said that, I really love the P-rod,, but for more than just the fact that it's a PCP. I've never quite seen an airgun so unique. This thing can be modded to kingdom come and back if you want and to look at mine, you wouldn't even recognize it unless you knew what you were looking at...

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new PCP. They certainly are good fun...

Enjoy your Disco. I sold my springer to friend at work and he loves it, however my disco has just returned from a trip to NY. It now has the 10 shot repeater breech from Sergio and this thing is great. You will be very happy with this rifle.

Enjoy that Disco -- Someday I'll get a PCP & compressor, etc, but in the meantime, I'm stuck with break barrels. Soon, I may get a Co2, but not sure. Ever since my nitro piston Benjamin Titan GP purchase, I'm a nitro piston fan over springers. The Titan that I have is unbelievable at 28 yards - even with stock 4x 30mm scope - less than half inch groups every shot if I do my part on a gun rest (shooting while breathing out, no black coffee, etc :)). I'm about to post in the Benjamin Gate about it, actually.

I do love my Nitro gamo big cat. I am a hunter though, and would like a little extra power. I'm going to be trying to sell or at least trade my big cat for a hand pump for the disco. Once my income tax is here I'll be getting that disco and it'll be complete... At least till I start itching to mod the heck out of it. I'm really looking forward to getting it.

How is that by the way? I was looking into maybe picking one of those breeches up.

The breech works very well. The quality and service from him was fantastic. If you are thinking about it do not hesitate. I even sent the rifle to him and he set it all up for me. If you ask him a question he will respond very quickly.
