Here is the scoop. I put the Retay 135X .22 back together without doing any tuning. Just cleaned it up. Relubed the seal. Did not relube the spring. And no adjustments whatsoever.

After dozen or so shots to clear any excess lube in chamber I run her accross the chrony. First with CHP's 14.3gn pellets and then with JSB Exacts 15.8 pellets.

The seal on piston was tighter in bore than I would like. And I am sure it had an effect on the chrony numbers, not to mention that the Retay had not been shot more than a dozen times prior to testing.

Here is the breakdown. I am sure these numbers would go up after a couple hundred pellets and normal seal and lan seasoning had taken place.

Positive Points:
Right Hand Synthetic Ambertextrious Stock "Exceptional Feel And Shouldering"
Very Smooth and Predictable Trigger - Two Stage
Metal Work Above Average
Excellent Wt. and Balance
Very Smooth Shooting and Cocking Cycle
Weaver Style Scope Rail
Internal Build Quality - Above Average
No Need For Spring Compressor To Work On The Retay 135X
Room To Mod With Stronger Spring, Etc., if Desired.

Negative Points:
Possible Issue With Finding a Replacement Piston Seal.
I am sure Richard will have parts available if he so decides to become a direct distributor.

Hi Magy

My first impression was the design engineers did a fantastic job with this build. I have tuned many airguns in my past and present. I see the parts that make them work. Most air guns of this type are clones of clones, but not the Retay. You have put innovation into your product. It is an excellent build worth purchasing if this gun fits your style of shooting. I think both my 1st and 2nd reviews explain how I personally feel about the quality and engineering behind the Retay 135X.

At this time Magy I do not see where this air gun needs little or any improvement of it's design. You guys have done your homework well.

Thanks for a great product.

Please bring all of your models to the USA...

There must be sth to improved or for new projects there must be MANY things to do.
For example, swivels? do you need t? or a luxury packaging? do you pay for it?

I wanna to hear negative things that I kick engineers asses in here to do sth for you, I like that one.

Come on guys PLEASE get contact with richard and make a review for 135X and 100X

I have a suggeston. Make the stock for left handed shooters also. Maybe a wood ambi wood stock as option for both. With and with out the thumb holes. And nice swivels front and back...

I think a price reduction would help sell a lot of these ags they are very nice, but the prices i am hearing are in the upper class ags, I am sure Richards shipping cost has a big determining factor on the price also. David

Great review buddy and after speaking with you over the phone about it I'm really impressed and I really like the lines of the stock but they do need a stock for the lefties.

The numbers are good to me since most .22 in that power range are only sitting in the mid 600fps range. Another nice option that you mentioned was the room in the piston to play with different springs. Ed

Rocker1, I agree with your point my friend. Despite having a good airgun in their stables, they need to make the price more competitive since they are new to the US Market. At the price they are considering, they will have to compete with RWS which is an established brand and have have airguns in that price range already bundled with a scope. We have a lot of consumers who will not be familiar with the new Retay brands and are also unaware of Gene's reviews about the Retay airguns and might overlook it favoring a more familiar brand. If they are going to charge that kind of price, they should have at least bundled it with a scope. All I know is that it is not easy for a new company to just enter a new market and compete without trade offs. I wish Retay all the best and hope they succeed because they seem to have a good product. They just need to get more people to own it so they can get a foothold in the US market. I think they need to be more competitive price wise to achieve this.

Personally, I would try the Retay 135X in .22, but getting laid off I will not be able to just buy it. With the current state of the economy, many people are more cautious with their spending. When my financial standing improves, I will be glad to try a Retay based on Gene's reviews.

To answer the price reduction request... I don't know how it could go a lot lower. The problems are several-fold. If you want a decent gun, you have to manufacture it with quality parts and design. If you want it from a foreign country, you have to ship it, pay taxes, tariff and brokerage fees. If you consider that these are going for more in Europe than I am pricing them here, I am doing what I can to keep the cost relative to the quality and manufacture. I did testing on my dime (with a little help from some friends: Gene). I don't know how you can judge the cost of a rifle without ever having held one... and I think Gene's word should hold some weight. I am not gouging anyone... and so far, still a few K in the hole, though I expect that to change come about November.

All I can say about the price thing is once you hold one in your hands and shoot it you will not look back...

I paid $300.00 for my Retay 100 Sport underlever. But I already had it in my hands before paying Richard...

There was no guess work involved here either.

I am going to buy another one as well when he gets his shipment in. I would gladly pay that price again in comparison to the other guns sold here in that price range.

My Retay 100 Sport is bone stock with the exception of a lube tune. Would not even want to change nuttin on it.
