Invasive control

Spring has sprung out here and the HOSPs are out (as are all the other species). I can't pump my 1377 fast enough to catch them all. I got the 3 sparrows 10 yards outside my window. From left to right: chest shot, neck shot, head shot. The head shot was with a Beeman Crow Magnum and it really did a number on it.
I did spot this starling 30 yards out. I aimed just above the head to compensate for the drop. Pulled the trigger and the RWS superpoint hit it in the back, severed its spine and made its way forward to the vitals. There was some flapping and its mate/buddy went nuts. Before I got the second shot off it had expired. I tried to target its buddy but it went far up into the trees, giving me no clear shot. That's the farthest I've taken down a bird, but will probably keep it 20 yards and under.

If you can hit them and they present you with a back or head on shot, I say go for it.
I'd only pass on side shots at that range.

When hunting zombie starlings, there are two approaches. The first approach is the "Double-Tap". The alternative is cutting their heads off and putting toothpicks through their hearts.
It's your choice.

Thanks, guys. The sparrows don't see me from above at my window so they keep coming back. Starlings on the other hand are just plain skittish. Luckily this one was far enough that it didn't hear me open the window. And when the first one dropped the second hung around for a bit. Too bad the second was obstructed by branches. If the second comes back tomorrow I may have another pic to post.
