Had a little accident today.....

My brother while shooting my RWS 34p, cocked the barrel and asked for a pellet(as he had just ran out). I reached in my pocket, and I heard a loud noise and turned to look and saw my barrel for my 34p flipping in the air! So I think what happened was he accidentally pulled the trigger and that causes the barrel to go airborne.  

So now I need suggestions as to where the cheapest barrel for an RWS 34p (.22 cal) is.

I just learned, to never let go of the barrel when cocking and loading a springer.  Not that I knew it before joining here, but it seems this happens here and there.  Luckily the barrel didn't smack him or his finger didn't get caught.  BUmmer it happened, but good thing no one got hurt.

You have to check the barrel pivot bolt too....that could be bend also!!!  Very lucky he didn't have his thumb and fingers at the breech....he could've lost them, or the barrel could've whacked him in his face.

Hope the stock didn't get cracked.

The stock is fine, same with the scope. So you know, the barrel is broke in two. It broke right where the barrel(rectangular square thing) attaches to the actual barrel.

I am not quite sure where you could order a barrel separately for your rifle, depending on you warranty status (I do not know what kind of warranty RWS offers)
you might be able to send it in to them, If not you could send it to an airgunsmith to repair the damage. I have worked with Tim McMurray at MAC 1 airguns and he has done a good job every time, that's just my two cents. I am also very glad nobody was injured by that incident, It is easy to underestimate the power of those springs. Take care of yourself

For future referance, you do not need to fully cock the rifle to load it. As a safety precaution you can smack it just enough to break it open, then load a pellet into the breach. Then you can cock it and are ready to go. It may seem trivial, but none of us want to see anyone injured.

Wow, that not worthy. Unfortunately, you and your brother both learned a powerful (and hopefully not too expensive) lesson on safely handling break barrel spring rifles. Since your M34 has an auto safety, either he blocked from fully engaging when he cocked it or he took it off early. Either way he had his finger on the trigger when loading, another no-no.
So what now?
Well you can call Pyramyd Air and/or Umarex and get a price on the replacement parts. The good thing is that it's a relatively easy task to replace the barrel assembly. But, be prepared for a little sticker shock, as I don't think the barrel assembly will be too cheap. You might also want to inspect/replace the cocking lever as it could have been damaged in the slam shut. One option to consider is, if it will fit (I don't know and hopefully someone here does), is buying a refurbished Ruger air hawk/used B-25 (if you can find a .22) and swapping the barrel out. That maybe cheaper than just buying the barrel assmebly from Umarex/PA. Then you could sell the "parts" gun (if you don't want it) and recoup some of your costs.

             I am surprised from these pictures - as it seems the barrel was cut cleanly from the breech block assembly in a very peculiar way! It looks like the treatment of the barrel material was somehow wrong. I have seen and read about bended barrels from break-barrel airguns in similar accidents but never for something like this. Check the trigger mechanism to ensure that there is nothing wrong in the area for future use, perhaps there was a human error perhaps not - if you cannot do that send the rifle to an experienced gunsmith to check it for you. Before you start looking for a new barrel think about the possibility of re-using the existing one (what it's left of it). A good gunsmith with the necessary equipment can remove the small piece of barrel inside the monobloc and re-install the barrel. You will end up with a "carbine shaped" air rifle without other alterations (accuracy will be the same but balance will be better).

I'm sending it to Umerex for the warrenty....called them and they said it sound like a defective barrel since it snapped off like that....

So it doesn't look like I'll have to pay the $146!

        That's real good news! Remember to tell them to check thoroughly the rest of the rifle for other possible defects in material components and especially the trigger department

That is good news, Conor.  I hope they just send you a new one.  I'm glad you and your brother are okay.  That really could have turned out for the worst but fortunately, it didn't and that's good!
